Put two of the top musicians in the U.S. together for an evening and you get this amazing concert. A rock star of the Harp world, Emmanuel Ceysson (the lead harpist at the Metropolitan Opera and friend of Maestro Rhodes from his Paris Opera days) is joined by Denis Bouriakov, the principal flutist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. This night will prove to be exciting and varied, including music from old Vienna to the 20th Century. Enjoy Mozart’s incredibly beautiful Flute and Harp Concerto and Beethoven’s bouncy and unexpected “Music for a Ballet on Horseback” paired with the French impressionist Debussy. We’ll finish with the rhythmic and percussion-filled Harp Concerto of Argentinian composer Ginastera and Leonard Bernstein’s moving and profound, “Halil” for solo flute and orchestra.
