The Springfield Symphony - Carmina Burana & Beethoven! - CANCELLED

  • Springfield Symphony Orchestra 1441 Main Street Springfield, MA, 01103 United States (map)

Due to COVID-19 this performance will not be taking place.

A voice and orchestra spectacular like no other! One of the most popular classical works of all time returns to the Symphony Hall stage when “Carmina Burana” bursts into the rafters with the SSO chorus and others. Having been used by film and television producers in “Excalibur,” “That 70s Show,” and by Ozzy Osbourne, it has truly become a staple in popular culture. The SSO most famously played the beginning of the piece for the start of the 2015 NFL season when the New England Patriots hosted the opening game after their historic win at the previous year’s Super Bowl! Also on the program is American composer Richard Danielpour’s jazz, rock, and NYC influenced “Urban Dances” along with Beethoven’s rarely heard “Ruins of Athens” Overture and March.
